The main purpose of my remix was to make a collage that symbolized something important to me. I wanted to communicate what makes up the St. Bonaventure softball team in my eyes. The collage is made up of all photos of the St. Bonaventure softball team and me. In the center of the collage there is a softball outline with SBU in the middle of the ball. The ball and SBU is made up of tiny photo of all the photos surrounding the softball outline. The softball outline in the middle represents our program and the surrounding pictures represent what I think our program is made up of. This is why I used the surrounding photos to “make up” the outline of the softball in the center. The negative space around the softball outline and inside of the surrounding photos is a cross cut-out. This represents our Franciscan heritage and that is it an important role for our softball team. In games, we sometimes pray, or we practice that “brotherly/sisterly” love for one another by being a good teammate while on the field or off the field. When making my collage, I had fair use. The person who took the photos is one of my friend’s mom on the team. After tournaments, her mother sends us the photos she took and allows us to use them whatever way we please without having to give her credit when we post them. Some challenges I had when making the collage was trying to find a proper program to make a collage with. I ended using Microsoft word because it was the only program I could find that allowed me to move the photos as I please, in the manor that I wanted to. At first, I wanted to just make an outline of a softball with all the pictures I used in the finished project that are surrounding the outline. Then I realized it wouldn’t do the idea justice if the viewers couldn’t see that the outline was actually made up of photos of the St. Bonaventure softball team. I ended up realizing I needed my audience to able to see the photos. I ended up adding the photos surrounding the outline to show what the outline was made up off. Then I sparked the idea to make the negative space into something else important to our team that people normally wouldn’t think of, hence being in the “negative” space. That is why I added the cross because many people looking at a sports team wouldn’t think religion would be important role to the program.
